13.1 What is magnetic builder? Back to top
Magnetic Builder is a useful magnetic design software. It is a tool that allows users to create their own magnetic components by selecting different ferrite core, bobbin type and winding method. Engineering drawings will be automatically produced to reduce the work load for users.

All transformer builds can be saved and reused in a power supply as long as the winding numbers are matched.

13.2 How to start Magnetic Builder (without design) Back to top
Click "Magnetic Builder".

13.3 Introduction to Interface (standalone tool) Back to top
  1. select an application of the magnetic component
  2. change the operating conditions of the application
  3. recommended transformer
  4. general function

13.3.2 Enter the Operating conditions of the application Back to top
You may select AC/DC input by clicking on the radio box to the left of the words "AC Input" and "DC Input".

Vinmax and Vinmin can be changed by updating the value in the text box.

Output voltage and current can be self-defined by updating the value of the corresponding text boxes.

Click "Recommend Xformer" to preview the design sample.

Click "default setting" to return to the initial settings.

The number of output can be changed by clicking the + and - buttons on the right/left of "O/P". The maximum number of output is restricted between 1 and 5 depending on the application selected.

Output voltage and current can be self-defined by updating the value of the corresponding text boxes.

Operating frequency can be changed by clicking the frequency value.

High frequency transformers are also available as PowerEsim will suggest a suitable transformer for the requested operating frequency.

Clicking " more..." allows users to update the value of the corresponding text boxes.

Operating frequency can be changed by entering the value in the text boxes.

Click "core". Please refer to Session 3--Component Finder.

Click the purple image of a circle to go to the website of the manufacturer.

Click "default setting" to return to the initial setting.

Click "help" to go to the user manual.

Click "Apply" to update the changes.

13.3.3 General Function Back to top
Click "OK" to put the transformer in BOM.

Click "Save" to save the transformer file to your computer.

Please refer to Session 16--Harmonic.

13.3.4 Recommended Transformer Back to top
You may change the Core shape, material and manufacturer by clicking the "Core" button.

Please refer to Session 3--Component Finder.
Change L0 by putting new values in the text box to the right of L0 =.
Clicking "Keeping L0 by" allows users to choose how to maintain the L0 of the transformer.
If the box on the left of "Keeping L0 by" is checked, it allows air gap and allows changes to N0.
Click "help" to go to user manual.
Click "Apply" to update the changes.

If the box to the left of Keep Turn Ratio is checked, once you change the number of turns in the transformer illustration in the middle, the other windings will update the number of turns in ratio.

Click "Vanish" to change the type and manufacturer of vanish used.
Click "UL Insulation System" to change the manufacturer.
Click the image to go to the website of the manufacturer.
Click the "help " button to refer to the user manual.
Click "Apply" to confirm the setting.
Click "Close" to close the page.

Click the image to right of "Wire= ", "Tape= ","Vanish" or "UL Insulation System" to go to the website of the manufacturer.
